FAW-VW's Jetta and Bora Diesel Cars Again Bestowed "Green Products" Awards

At the Sixth Review Conference of China Environmental Protection Foundation held at the great Hall of the People in Beijing, FAW-VW's Jetta SDI and Bora TDI again were bestowed the "Green Products" Award by the Foundation. This is the second successive year in which FAW-VW was bestowed the honors. Other products of the company that received the award also included the gasoline engines of Jetta and Bora.

The "Green Products" Award of the China Environmental Protection Foundation was approved by the State Environmental Protection Administration, and is awarded to products of various enterprises. Its aim is to enable enterprises to recognize and promote modern environmental protection ideals, thereby helping Chinese enterprises to establish and develop green enterprise image and product brands. The award is currently the most authoritative environmental protection award in China.

FAW-VW has always placed an importance on environmental protection issues in its corporate development strategies, and spares no efforts in development safe and environmentally-friendly "green" cars in order to satisfy the altruistic needs of the society and car buyers. At present, the emission of FAW-VW’s products have attained E3 standard, with some even achieving E4 standard.

It is worth noting that FAW-VW's development strategies for diesel cars are beginning to reap dividends. To-date FAW-VW has launched diesel cars such as the Jetta SDI; Bora TDI, Caddy TDI and Audi TDI, etc. These models adopt Volkswagen's latest diesel engine technologies, with emission of 30% to 45% less carbon dioxide than gasoline cars. They also save fuel by as much as 30% or more. Through them, Chinese customers are beginning to move away from the previously poor impression of diesel-driven vehicles being unfriendly to the environment. During the past three years, sales of FAW-VW's diesel cars have reached nearly 40,000 units. The fact that Jetta SDI and Bora TDI have garnered the "Green Products" Award is testimony to the company's achievements. They are also demonstrative of FAW-VW's industry leadership position in China with regard to environmental-friendliness and fuel economy. No doubt the company will remain steadfast in its efforts.
